Tool Catcher
Purpose
To capture the tool-string if the slick-line or cable gets disconnected from the rope-socket or the cable-head during wireline operations. The disconnection normally happens when the tools forcefully hit the bottom of either the stuffing box or grease injection control head assembly.
Description
Designed to be installed directly below a stuffing box or grease injection control head. This tool catcher can be configured to capture up to and including 2-5/16” fish-neck.
The assembly is made up of a top sub, bottom sub, union nut, piston, collet, 2 springs, brass plug, an expander and expander ring. The top sub is designed with a 1/8 NPT port for hydraulic operation, which is mainly for the release of the fish-neck once engaged.
